Before I start let me get this out of the way...

Any of you ladies out there in the midst of peri-menopause or menopause are probably saying, Sleep? Umm what the hell is that? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sleep is so weird for me in post-menopause. (Just an FYI, My sister will soon be 70 and she still has issues). Thankfully I have NO more night sweats! On a rare occasion I'll have a hot flash, but they're mild in comparison to before! Oh, I'm NOT complaining! Just throwing this out there in case someone else is going through the same 💩...you're not alone!
So let's talk about it...
until next time, thanks for stopping by! Tina

♦ Normal Nights Sleep
This is a breakdown of a weeks sleep. Note that bedtime is when I'm physically in bed, once comfortable it takes maybe 15 to 30 minutes to fall asleep. If I'm tossing and turning nor comfortable in 45 minutes I'm getting up. What do I do when awake? I'll either watch TV, read, check/read emails or scroll Instagram and sometimes I'll do laundry while doing any of the above.
(Times are rounded up or down, instead of typing 10:06 or 2:27 etc.)
MONDAY NIGHT TO TUESDAY MORNING: wasnt sleepy, went to bed Tuesday morning 2:30am, slept until 7:10am
TUESDAY NIGHT TO WEDNESDAY MORNING: bedtime 11pm, woke 2:10am, back to bed 3:45am, slept until 6:30am
WEDNESDAY NIGHT TO THURSDAY MORNING: bedtime 10pm, woke 12:30am, back to bed 3am, woke 4:50am, dozed off at some point, slept until 8:30am
THURSDAY NIGHT TO FRIDAY MORNING: another night that I wasn't tired at a normal time, bedtime 3am, woke 8:50am
FRIDAY NIGHT TO SATURDAY MORNING: bedtime 10pm, woke 12:30am, back to bed 2:45am, woke 8:15am
SATURDAY NIGHT TO SUNDAY MORNING: bedtime 11:30 pm, slept until 4am, fell asleep around 2:30ish in the afternoon while watching TV and napped about 45min
SUNDAY NIGHT TO MONDAY MORNING: bedtime 10:30 pm, slept until 4:50ish, dozed off at some point and slept until 8:00 am
How many of you sleep like this?
☆ What I've Tried
Oh boy! Do I list everything or do I just say, I've tried pretty much EVERYTHING! It may work for 1 or 2 nights but that's it. I do sleep with the ceiling fan on and the thermostat is set at night to 66°F, all year round. I do take melatonin, but only 5mg, taking anymore than 5mg doesn't help. I take a hot relaxing bath every night but that doesn't always work. I've also tried setting my alarm, but that only works for a few nights and I was back to the "normal" sleep patterns ... just grumpy as all hell!
☆ A Special Nights Sleep
On very rare occasions I will actually sleep 6 to 7 hours straight. I love those sleeps! I have tried unsuccessfully to replicate what I did during the day that gives me a full nights sleep; but to no avail! However, I do have more nights like this in the spring/summer than in the fall/winter, but it's still not an every night thing! So, when it happens I'm grateful 😊

Final Words
So ... yes my sleep schedule is screwy, but surprisingly 75 - 80% of the time I'm not dragging butt during the day! Now, don't get me wrong, 1 or 2 times a month I'll sleep til 9/930am or take a nap, but either my body has adapted or I'm just weird!😂😉
What do you think?
My daughter is probably saying "Your just weird mom!"🤣 Which I'm fine with, since I take pride in my weirdness!! 🤪
