I have been meal planning in some way for years now. I've stepped away from it a few times and realized I'm more consistent with cooking, which I don't really care to do, meals with one than without. Another thing I've changed is instead of shopping monthly for meat (sometimes) and certain fresh vegetables I do it weekly. All other ingredients are purchased in bulk. I also use this app, Familywall, for my grocery list and recipes I want to try. The app allows me to save recipes and transfer ingredients to my grocery list.
Here's an example of my categories. This isn't set in stone, but I try to follow it. Under each category I jot down all meals I make on a regular basis in the app, then mark them off as they're added to the calendar. This year I've decided to try and add one new recipe a week (Friday); whether it happens weekly or not 🤷♀️ and If we like it, I will add it to the menu.
