While redoing the 4th bedroom, my son decided he no longer wanted the upper doors on his entertainment armoire. Instead of throwing them away, I took them to the garage. I decided I was going to give them a new life but I wasn't quite sure what that new life would be.

Fast forward to two weeks ago...........While I was working on my burlap tables; I decided to make some changes in the family room. The first thing I did was paint this mirror from black to white:

I added a little brown glaze to the rope detail then sealed it. Once finished I hung it over the couch. While trying to decide what to put on either side of the mirror, an idea popped into my head..........the doors!

These doors have a wonderful arch at the top. I removed the hardware, lightly sanded, painted them white, then distressed them.

Once finished, however, I didn't like the way it looked. It was missing something. So, I spent the next several days deciding what I wanted to do. At first, I was going to use a french graphic from The Graphics Fairy. After a lot of debating, I decided not to go that route. Finally I decided to use a stencil, this way I wasn't locked into something specific. DH and I took a trip to Hobby Lobby, where I found the stencil I wanted to use.

The next day, I grabbed my black paint and went to work.

But the stencil was too dark. Well, I grabbed my sand paper and distressed the stencil and the area around it. I liked this look better.

I did the same thing to the other door. Once sealed, dried, and the knobs were back on, I hung the doors on either side of the mirror. Here is the finished look.

I love the way it looks, Don't you?

Enjoy your day,
