Anyway, I'm sure many of you are ready to get your home organized, unless you do it throughout the year, again, like me. Are you struggling on where to start? Well, why not start with your Christmas decorations? They are already out, plus you have to put them away, so perfect timing.
Where To Begin?
◇ You can start now before you put this years decorations away. This is the easiest way since you may have things you didn't/couldn't use.
What To Use?
◇ You'll need a sharpie to mark boxes
◇ heavy duty garbage bag(s) for items you're throwing away
◇ a cardboard box (or 2) for items you're donating or selling
◇ storage containers (preferably clear).
Start Sorting: Keep, Sell/Donate or Toss
◇ Go through lights, toss non-working strands, sell/donate those in good condition that you no longer use, and replace any burned out bulbs on those you're keeping or selling/donating.
◇ Toss garland and bows that have seen better days.
◇ Have some trendy decorations that you used once and never again? Nows the time to put it in the sell/donate box.
◇ Any decorations that are broken beyond repair; throw them away.
◇ Decorations you haven't used for 2 holiday seasons. This is tricky if you like to change things up ever so often.
◇ Sentimental decorations you don't use. This one is hard for me and it may for you also. So, I just ignore it, 😅 or I will ask one of my kids. Some of the ornaments that were either made by my kids or bought when they were little, (babies first Christmas) are given to them.
◇ If you've already put your decorations away...well...you can work on one box a weekend or you can do it next Christmas when you pull them out, the choice is yours!
And finally, these steps can be used for all the holidays or seasons you decorate for. So, happy organizing!
