DIY Footed Risers x2
Well HelloThere!
I have wanted a footed riser for my dining table for some time but never bought one.
Anyway...Back in October Jeff (DH) was working on a cabinet for a friend; so I asked him to cut down a piece of wood for me. I scrounged through our wood horde, found some trim pieces and feet that I bought (who knows when) that were never used.
Unknown to me DH cut the trim to size, sanded, put it together and stained it. He then sealed it with furniture wax. Assembled it and here it is! Quick and easy!
No. 1 Footed Riser for the Dining Room
Supplies:
- Board - whatever length and width you want (mine is plywood cut to 1×8"w×3'l)
- Trim - whatever style
- Finials - any style
- Leg mounting plates
- Stain or paint (your preference)
- Polycrylic, polyurethane or furniture wax (your preference)
- Wood glue
- Saw
- Compound miter saw
- Nail gun
Assembly:
- Cut wood to desired length
- Cut trim to fit around wood
- Apply trim to board
- Stain wood, trim & finials
- Once Stain is dry seal with polyurethane, polycrylic or wax
- When that is dry, flip over & attach leg mounting plates
- Screw in finials
- Put on your table and decorate
This is what mine looked like for fall.

No. 2 Tray for the Breakfast Area Table
Recently I switched out the table in my breakfast Nook, going from a round to a rectangular table. Although I love the look, none of the trays/risers I used on the round table worked, so DH made me another one.
Supplies:
- 1×8×24 wood board (mine is poplar)
- Router
- Router bit
- Table saw
- Sander
- Wood glue
- 4 clamps
- Stain
- 4 - 1in wood drawer pulls
- Polyurethane, polycrylic or furniture wax
Assembly:
- Cut wood to 23in
- Router edges
- Sand
- Glue feet to bottom of board, using spring clamps to hold in place until glue dries
- Stain
- Apply sealer
There's your new riser!
Hope you love yours as much as I love mine!
Enjoy your day! ♡ Tina

Yogurt Parfait Possibilities
Well, Hey y'all! How's everyone today?
Do you like parfaits for breakfast? I get a taste for them every now and then, like the other day! As I was making one I started thinking about all the different flavor combos one could make! 😋 The possibilities are wonderful.
What is a Parfait?
According to my research there are different types of Parfaits.
• In France, where the dish originated, parfait is made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like or meringue-like puree which is then frozen...
• a dessert of ice cream and fruit or ice cream and syrup in alternate layers, often topped with whipped cream and served in a tall, narrow, short-stemmed glass. (any frozen dessert in which fruit, nuts, etc., have been folded into whipped cream or egg custard.)...
• A yogurt parfait is prepared by layering yogurt, grains such as granola or crushed gram crackers and fruits. If low-fat or fat-free yogurt is used, yogurt parfait has a lot of health benefits as yogurts are an excellent source of protein, calcium, and probiotics....
• In the United Kingdom, parfait has an entirely different meaning. It refers to a very smooth paste made of meat, usually from chicken or duck liver, and sweetened with liqueurs...
How to Make a Yogurt Parfait
Making the parfait is simple, however, deciding which flavor combos can be a hard decision!
- 8oz plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (if lactose intolerant, use a non-dairy alternative)
- Fruit or fruit combo (see below)
- Topping of choice (see below)
- Layer all ingredients in glass/bowl or mix together and enjoy!

Parfait Flavor Combos
Let's talk flavor combos.
- There's the usual: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or a combination of these plus a granola Topping.
Or these combos:
- Apples, raisins, walnuts and maybe a drizzle of honey
- Bananas and walnuts
- Strawberries, bananas with granola
- Strawberries, kiwi with granola or pistachios
- Pineapples with granola, or chopped macadamia nuts
- Mangoes, papayas with chopped macadamia nuts
- Mandarin oranges, Pineapple with granola
- Grapes with walnuts or granola
- Peaches with granola
- Apricots (not sure what kind of toppings)
Those are just a few off the top of my head.
Can you think of more?
