Yogurt Parfait Possibilities

Well, Hey y'all! How's everyone today?
Do you like parfaits for breakfast? I get a taste for them every now and then, like the other day! As I was making one I started thinking about all the different flavor combos one could make! 😋 The possibilities are wonderful.

What is a Parfait?

According to my research there are different types of Parfaits.
• In France, where the dish originated, parfait is made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like or meringue-like puree which is then frozen...

• a dessert of ice cream and fruit or ice cream and syrup in alternate layers, often topped with whipped cream and served in a tall, narrow, short-stemmed glass. (any frozen dessert in which fruit, nuts, etc., have been folded into whipped cream or egg custard.)...

 • A yogurt parfait is prepared by layering yogurt, grains such as granola or crushed gram crackers and fruits. If low-fat or fat-free yogurt is used, yogurt parfait has a lot of health benefits as yogurts are an excellent source of protein, calcium, and probiotics....

•  In the United Kingdom, parfait has an entirely different meaning. It refers to a very smooth paste made of meat, usually from chicken or duck liver, and sweetened with liqueurs...

How to Make a Yogurt Parfait

Making the parfait is simple, however, deciding which flavor combos can be a hard decision!
  • 8oz plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (if lactose intolerant, use a non-dairy alternative)
  • Fruit or fruit combo (see below)
  • Topping of choice (see below)
  • Layer all ingredients in glass/bowl or mix together and enjoy!

Parfait Flavor Combos

Let's talk flavor combos.
  • There's the usual: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or a combination of these plus a granola Topping.
Or these combos:
  • Apples, raisins, walnuts and maybe a drizzle of honey
  • Bananas and walnuts
  • Strawberries, bananas with granola
  • Strawberries, kiwi with granola or pistachios
  • Pineapples with granola, or chopped macadamia nuts
  • Mangoes, papayas with chopped macadamia nuts
  • Mandarin oranges, Pineapple with granola
  • Grapes with walnuts or granola
  • Peaches with granola
  • Apricots (not sure what kind of toppings)
Those are just a few off the top of my head.
Can you think of more?

Thank you very much for being here! Have a beautiful week!

Hugs,Tina
