Another Year Begins - 2015

Ok,
so we're actually 14 days into the new year, later in the post you will see why!

But first, let me start by asking a question...

Wouldn't  it be more fun to celebrate the new year on the Spring Equinox, instead of a few weeks after the first day of winter? Think about it...
It would be so much easier to keep those resolutions, if you didn't want to stay in the warmth of your home, with a snugly blanket and some hot cocoa.

I remember learning in school why we celebrate the new year on January 1st, but it has been so long, I forgot why.

For several days that question (among others) rolled around in my head...
and it was irritating the hell out of me.
Do you know how hard it to focus when something so mundane keeps sidetracking you!
Finally, I just broke down a did a search on Google:

For your reading pleasure...if you're interested
Sorry if that seemed to have gone way out in left field, but somewhere down the road it will tie in...
at least in my mind it does :)
Anyways...
over the past two or so months I have come across several blog post that have really struck a cord with me...
some have brought me to tears, and I'm not a crier.
While other had me thinking, pondering, reflecting, etc.
(See !I told you above I had a lot of questions rolling around in my head!)
One post, although a sponsored post - was heartfelt just the same - was by The Nester entitled
Hospitality, But Not the Kind Your Thinking of
the long and the short of this post was being hospitable to yourself. Taking the time to be, unplug, meditate or whatever you do to clear your mind, body and soul.
If you think about it...
If you can't be friendly and welcoming to yourself, how will you ever be able to extend that to others. She talks about having a place just for you. Your little world within this big, more often than not, Twilight Zone-esque world!
Another post I came across was written by Donna @ Funky Junk Interiors entitled Happy New Life with a Christmas Decor Recap. She talks of her dream of the perfect Christmas season where everything is finished; there is no rushing at the last minute. All there is, is time to sit back and enhoy the season in its entirety. At the end of her post she writes this:
"Forget New Year's Resolution. There is a brand new LIFE ahead of you. But no need to wait until January 1st. Your brand new starts 1 second from now. What do you want to do differently right this minute? Maybe "we" should seriously slow down a moment, and write down our goals...then chip away in the right direction."
Talk about something that makes you stop dead in your tracks.
It was like being smacked in the back of the head. It makes so much sense!
Really what is a resolution but a big picture, right? You can't paint a picture without doing the steps, right? Which in essence is the start of a new life.
As Donna says above you've got to chip away at it. There is the secret to the bigger life picture!
As for me?

I made up my mind long before reading those 2 plus more heartfelt, make you think post; that there was NOT going to be a word this year. I did that a few years ago and after 4 months I forgot what the word was! There's also No resolutions either!
I am going to just...
GO WITH THE FLOW!
So, that means the projects that I have going on, will be worked on when the urge hits!
Oh and the kitchen reveal that was supposed to happen in October 2014...
Well... it's just one of those things. After taking photos of the whole kitchen I realized that there were a few things that I didn't like, so I decided to change those.
There are projects that I finished last month that will be posted...in the future.
Until then, good luck!

Enjoy your day,
Tina ♡

I love your new mantra - going with the flow is really the only way to live - because otherwise you are fighting all the way. Happy new Year!

    Hi Heather,
I have a tendency to stress myself out over little and big things - not so long ago I went with the flow but over the past several years, (since DH retired from the military), even with everything going on I never stressed like I do now!
Happy New Year to you :)

Hi Tina, well you are a girl after my own heart. I just go with the flow too. No resolutions or pressured promises I can't or seldom keep. Just taking one day at a time and trying to do my best and meet the goals I have on going year round. It's like a list of to do's but what doesn't get finished gets carried over to the next day and so on. I stay organized and that helps a bunch, but over all going with the flow works for me.
Thanks for stopping by and best wishes in the new year.
    Hugs
