• Life
The end of February is here! Which means we're that much closer to Spring and Easter!
We spent the first part or should I say weekend in February moving our extra furniture into a larger storage unit. My son 'J' (truck driver) has a few pieces of furniture in there and our youngest son 'M' has an engine! So you can see why the larger storage!
In April 2023 (3 months after my daddy passed away) my mom was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was doing really good, but was admitted back into Duke University Hospital. Mom was released on Valentine's Day into home hospice care.
In last months 'a note from Tina' I posted projects we wanted to work on. Below is the list of what we finished, anything left will be carried over to March.

What I've Read | February '2024
Hello sweet friends and Welcome to 'What I've Read'.
If you're new here this is a monthly post of the books I've read either on Kindle or in physical form, or listened to on Audible or Chirp. Hopefully you enjoy this months books or if you've read any let me now what you thought in the comments below. If you want to see more of the books I've read go here or check out goodreads.
With all that was going on this month I didn't get a chance to finish or read as much as I usually do.
Happy Reading!
A Year of Puttery Treats (February chapter)
Author: Alison May | ☆☆☆☆ |Available: Kindle HERE | This book covers each month as chapters and has fun ideas/inspiration for each.
Welcome to A Year of Puttery Treats. One gorgeous, life-enhancing little something to do for each of the 365 days in the year.
Housekeeping you see, can be terribly dull. A monotonous round of chasing dirt and moving objects that we should seek to enhance with the kind of decorative little to-do’s that gladden the heart and help to bring both order and authenticity in to our homes.
While the treats vary from the pretty to the silly, the fragrant and the celebratory, they are each designed to remind us that keeping house is about more than getting busy with a vacuum and a duster and should instead be about enhancing the lives of those that live in our homes. In reflecting the soul of the Mistress of the house and marking the lives of those she shares it with, puttery treats are quite the most lovely way to ritualise life within our own four walls and more than that to celebrate the art of homemaking and bring joy to domesticity.
In a Year of Puttery treats you will find seasonal tasks and little to-dos for annual holidays and national celebrations. You will discover ways to journal your days and create a living museum of family life. You will find tiny pampering treats and scrubby housekeeping tips, and in the midst of it all, right there in the heart of your home you will find yourself…

Need to Drill a Hole to a Specific Depth?
Hello Sweet Friends!
Have you ever needed to drill a hole to a specific depth, but are not sure how? Well my DHJ (darling hubby Jeff) has two tip/tricks for you! Now if you're a DIYer you probably already know, but if not continue reading. Recently I asked DHJ to make a slight change to my kitchen plate rack. I wanted a few pegs on a board installed. While supervising watching him drilling the peg holes, I thought, this would be a good post and might be helpful to someone.
Supplies
- wood pegs
- measuring tape or ruler
- correct size drill bit
- drill stops .
No Drill Stops?
Now what do you do if you don't have drill stops?
All you need is
- painters tape,
- chalk and/or soapstone.
How-to
1. Measure the length of the peg (or whatever you're using)
2. Choose the right size drill bit (circumference) Line up drill bit and measuring tape
3. Mark depth on drill bit with either soapstone or chalk
4. Making sure not to smudge your mark wrap painters tape around drill bit
5. Mark center for peg
6. Drill whole, stopping when the tape is even with the wood (like above)
7. Brush away debris, make sure none is in the whole
8. Insert peg (don't forget to add glue)
Make sure to use scrap wood if you've never done this before.
Hope this helps you out.
Thank you for visiting!

Before Christmas many bloggers were posting cookie recipes. One of those recipes was from Sara at Twelve on Main. I bought all the ingredients, made the cookies, we ate the cookies (YUM! They were good) and I didn't get a chance to take pictures!! So if you want to try the recipe is HERE
Well, I had some extra 'Andes Mints' (no affiliation) left over and I thought, why not make some extra special yummy brownies for my loved ones this VALENTINE'S day? So I grabbed my favorite brownie mix and got to work.

Good eats!
Enjoy your day,
Tina

MINT BROWNIES
instructions:
How to cook MINT BROWNIES
- Make your favorite brownies.
- While brownies are baking unwrap however many mints you think you may need, (I used 20 for an 11x7 pan) placing them on a plate.
- Immediately upon pulling out of the oven quickly place ANDES MINTS (no affiliation) on top.
- Once they start melting, start spreading.
- Then cut and enjoy!

What I've Crocheted & Inspiration | №2
Hello sweet friends!
Back in 2015 I wrote a post about A Rediscovered Love, crocheting. I've crocheted several throws since then but never posted them. But with the new year in front of me, I decided to get my butt in gear and post a few here and there starting with the older ones and (hopefully) working my way to the present.
Before I start:
If you're looking for detailed patterns from me...I don't do that! However, if you're looking for ideas and inspiration I will point you towards the patterns that I use(ed). I will note anything different, i.e. yarn and how many skeins (if I can remember) or hook size.
Valentine Inspiration
Since Valentine's Day is approaching I'll start with these cute hearts. You can make these in no time. And the small ones are perfect for a garland, a tree or on a present. The instructions can be found on YouTube 'Hooked by Robin' channel or 'HappyBeery Crochet' channel.
What I've Made
I made this green one. I didn't use a pattern. I just started crocheting! I used a double crochet stitch and finished with a scalloped edge.
I found this pattern from 'Darling Be Brave' and feel in love. So I gave it a try.

Have a great day!

Again, sorry for not providing more detail on what I used. But these were finished several years ago and any information has been lost. (sigh)

Chili in the Crock-Pot
Well hey there!
It's cold here 🥶 in my area of North Carolina, but at least the sun is shining and no ice or snow! With the weather the way it is I decided to make chili to keep us warm and comfy.
